DATABASE
ECDI has
gathered market size information from newspapers, magazines,
newsletters, press releases, government sources, and the Internet.
The database currently contains almost 600,000 entries, covering
market data across the globe. We have included a sample to
give you some sense of what you will receive if you place
a data request with us.
THE
DATA
The information
in our database is quoted directly from the many sources we
have consulted. That is, all terms are the terms used in the
original source. This preserves the integrity of the data
being displayed. For the purposes of this example, some data
was grouped together in useful, logical ways.
Again,
we are not a market research organization. We are simply a
storehouse for such information. While many sources and firms
will give explanations as to how they calculated the value
of a market, many others do not. It is quite common to see
"The $300 million so-and-so industry" with no explanation
as to how this figure was reached. As well, the source may
not always specify if the figure is for a specific year or
an annual market. Such figures are in our database, as frustrating
as they may be for the user (and us).

TABLE
The sample
table is arranged by an alphabetical listing of markets ("Alcoholic
Beverages"). In some cases, there may be a submarket
as well ("Whiskey").
The next
field shows the location of the market being discussed. This
may be a country, city, state or region. The source field
provides a full citation from which the data has been quoted.
The description field will quote the actual market size figure
from the source and/or provide a definition for the market
discussed or simply provide more information to place the
market figures in appropriate context. If the original source
did not give a specific year we have placed an NA ("not
applicable") in the "year" field.
Again, this is only a sample of the database and provided
by way of showing you what we can search on your behalf. The
Market Size database covers many industries and years and
is constantly growing and being updated. The table may take
several moments to load.
