About

This blog started as a place for us to test things that we wanted to prepare for online presentation,—what formats produce the clearest presentation of graphs, what fonts work well online, how does this/that look online versus in print?—that sort of thing. At the time we were using the WordPress hosting services. In April 2011, we moved the blog here, to our own web hosts server.

Why are we so intersted in how to present data online? Well, we’re an editorial company. Editorial Code and Data, Inc. (ECDI) is the name, ECDI for short. We have been making reference works since 1990. We make reference materials for the analyst, researcher, journalist, student and/or consultant. Our specialty is the presentation of statistics and we work with all types of statistical data. We produce books and databases available online. Through the use of well-designed presentation of the data, we always attempt to highlight the patterns and meanings inherent in the statistics themselves.

While we make these works, we don’t publish them ourselves but work for publishers. We’re now doing some testing of electronic presentations and may do some publishing ourselves one day soon. In addition, we continue to work primarily with the well established and world recognized reference leader, Gale Cengage Learning.

Some years back we put together a database full of market size data. While we no longer maintain the Market Size database, the name lives on in this blog and to some extend, even the database lives on. For more than a year now we’ve been posting a market size item every weekday. All those market sizes are searchable using the convenient list of categories that appears on the left column of the main blog.

For more about us, check our web site. The site looks quite different from the blog but in time we’ll get the two sites working more seamlessly with one another. It is a work in progress…

Stay tuned.
